Michael J. Bucci CIMA®

Mike joined Schneider Downs Wealth Management in 2009 and was named a Partner of the firm in 2022. He leads the Investment Advisory practice for the retirement plan services of the firm. With his experience and education, Mike’s skills have led him to this role which includes designing the initial investment plan menu, building and maintaining the risk-based model portfolio construction, and continued manager due diligence while acting in either a 3(21) or 3(38) capacity. Additionally, Mike personally services plans from the Plan Sponsor level to establish governance and to maintain compliance with ERISA. Beyond traditional 404(c) advisory services, Mike plays a role in the overall operations, marketing, sales, and training for Retirement Solutions.

Being a father to my three children.

Don’t settle for mediocrity.

I don’t have one all-encompassing per say, but I look for those that have exceptional traits and mix and match that into a mold of what I strive to achieve.  

What was your childhood dream? 
Play a sport for a living and retire young.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your college self?   
Enjoy it.

People would be surprised to know that I…
absolutely hate the takeoff and landing during air travel to the point I better be going to a location that is worth the anxiety.  

What is the best or most interesting thing about your career? 
Understanding the business and industries of the clients we serve is the most interesting.  The best and most satisfying part is getting a participant to a fully funded retirement account balance.   

What was your first job? 
Cashier at Food 4 Less.

Do you have a “motto”? (spoken or unspoken)
Water finds its level.

When you have an hour of free time, what do you like to do?   
With three young kids that are in perpetual motion, a nap. 

Do you have advice for young professionals? 
Listen more than you speak.
